Troll Incident

If you were a victim of the Troll incident in the C-Box, post a message here telling me exactly what happened in your eyes. I want to know everyone's side of the story.

Well, I believe you already know my opinion on the matter, but I'll post for the record here anyways. Earlier in the evening a person registered as Sora. He thereafter posted the quickest profile I have ever seen, most of which happened to be from Sora's kh wikia page. After that you posted some suggestions for what he needed to do to get approved. Shortly following, he deleted his post and his account.

About fifteen or twenty minutes later, the troll incident as you put it began. Immature name calling was first, and then after that he began to pose as different people. Rather ineffectively I might add. Basically, anyone shouting profanity was the troll.

That said, I believe that troll to be Sora, but I personally have no way to confirm that; and I am not sure if it can be confirmed on proboards. However, I do believe he will grow tired of such a charade, even if he does return. He did not seem exceptionally bright, so I wouldn't worry about the security of the site so much as how it affected the members present.

Per my suggestion, you took the chat down temporarily and hopefully that works...

I can see where you are getting at with that. But I also have another suspect in mind. I'm not pointing fingers or anything, but as soon as I took the c-box off, a certain member logged in, that has been logged off that entire time. I won't say any names here. What leads me to believe that this member was not the troll, is that this member is particularly intelligent, where as the troll was quite stupid if you ask me.

However, you never know when something is an act. No worries to anyone who was offended in the chat. An investigation is under way, and the issue will be taken care of immediately.

Although the troll, as we call it, only used my name a couple of times, he was really very offensive. He appeared while we were having a discussion, using spamming and blatant swearwords. I was confused at first, but then I realized what was going on. I took on a different name, using '?' as an anonymous person so that he couldn't use my name to foul-mouth or offend anyone. As it was, he took over Zexion's name, and was being very rude and disrespectful. I'm not sure if it was the same person, but there was a second name being used, one who was 'trying to explain' what the first one was upset about. I have no idea why he did this, or what he could possibly hope to accomplish, but I hope that it does not take away from this site.
I have only occasionally run across something like this before, so I somewhat understood what was going on.
He also took over Roxas's name, and Zane's, I think. Not entirely sure. It was all so crazy and ridiculously immature and offensive.
I was not offended, I have seen idiots like that in real life in high school. My main attention was on trying to get him to leave.

Was this that Sora guy? Or the Zexion QQer?

Anyway I don't know a lot about C-boxs. But can't you see the IP of everyone and perma ban him or something?

I'm new to C-Box myself. I've never seen a ban option before. I never really prepared for an incident such as this. I was Zexion for a while, but then I changed my name back to Zane because some troll took my name pretending to be me, and it was just getting chaotic. We are trying to find out who the troll was. We suspect that Sora guy, but I also have another suspect, which, Vanitas, I will share with you details on if you want to PM me about it.

If I may, depending on what c-box service you are using, there should be some sort of tutorial on the provider which you got it from. Detailed there would be stuff such as, how to make an admin account for the box, how to ban certain people and ip's. That is if it is a feature given on your particular c-box. Unfortunately, not all c-boxes have the features I mentioned.

Well, I got my app done despite the troll's distracting presence. XD He basically was what made me focus harder on getting my app done. XD

Thank you. Are you okay? That troll was pretty bad.. not that I've seen many trolls, but this one was the worst I've yet seen.

Fffffff, this would be the second time I've seen a box totally removed for this reason, I still don't get it. An IP ban's the smart thing like Roxas said, but you gotta be careful with those since if you make it too broad you'll catch more than the single troll (i.e., if the IP is 78.17.178.172, but you shorten it to 78.17.178.*, it'll basically cut off everyone in the 178.- range of that particular address). If your box works like mine, since it looks like straight up Cbox so I dunno why it wouldn't, that means just don't "strengthen" the ban.

That said, I pretty much cleared out to post, since I figured they were doomed to get banned after that first shtick anyway. From what I saw it only targeted Zane, but it sounds like they got pretty damned creative.

Hope it's worked out by tomorrow. Either way, Rox, I got a partial for you that I'll have up later; it's 4am and my characterization's not reliable around then.

I believe it was decided that the site will be switching to chatango, where Zane said he will be able to ban certain people and members that misbehave.
